Okay, here is the first in what will be a long run of paintings from now until Halloween. I was hoping to have started posting these about a week and a half ago, as I mentioned in my previous post, but oh well. We'll call it a false start.
So, as you can see this is my rendition of Rob Zombie. I have wanted to do one of these for quite sometime. A customer of mine in Texas suggested I do one about a year ago, maybe even longer. I had been playing around with doing one when it was suggested, and then I just never got it going until now. I am a fan of Rob Zombie going back to the days when he was with White Zombie. Anyway, it is finished, of course it is on eBay right now, you can find it through the link to your right, and as always I hope you enjoy.

Here is a remake of a previous painting that I did. As I said, Halloween is one of my favorite movies, and I did this one again just to kind of change this and that. I like this one better than the previous one...of course this is a part of the "Halloween" related set that is going up for auction from now until Oct. 31. Anyway, just wanted to post it under the Zombie...let me know what you think...

Mos Def, need I say more....I did this one for a friend as well. The same friend who got the Ice Cube painting below actually. A lot of fun to do this one, I got to experiment with a lot of different techniques, splattering, the ring stains, etc. I wanted a really gritty, grimey look to it. I am still "working" on it here and there, just little things. When it is all finished up I will post a pic of the completed project.

So here is my latest painting, I just finished up on it. I went and saw The Dark Knight the morning it opened and thought it was great. On a suggestion, I decided to do this painting and was really glad I did by the time I finished up with it. I really enjoyed the process of putting it together, and was pretty happy overall with the way it turned out.
I hope you enjoy as well, if you are interested in purchasing this painting, you can find it on eBay. I started it out with a REALLY low opening bid just for fun. It is the original painting up for sale as well, I do not deal in prints of any kind...

Another of my paintings from 2006, of one of my top favorite albums of all time - Abbey Road. Most people say you are either an Elvis fan or a Beatles fan, but not both...for me you are either a Beatles fan or a Rolling Stones fan, and I am a Rolling Stones fan. However Abbey Road is the one exception. To me it is the finest album they put together and definitely a big inspiration for me...
Enjoy...

The Rolling Stones are my favorite as far as music goes, and now you know. Is there anybody cooler than Keith Richards and Mick Jagger? no. Bands young and old aspire to be like the Rolling Stones. Keith Richards is "King of the Riff" no doubt about it. So a little tribute, I put together this painting.
Actually I did this one for the first time about 3 years ago, and it has been a staple in my work ever since. I hope you enjoy... and while you are at it, pick up a copy of Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main St. and soak it all in, it is, in my opinion Keith Richards at his VERY best. With the exception of the song "Thief in the Night" of course...

I love the old "chapter serials" from the late 30's going right through to the 50's, and definitely one of my favorites is "The Crimson Ghost". So going in with a set of classic horror etc. I decided to do this one. This was one of my favorites to paint here recently and I will most likely do it many more times...

The legendary beauty of Sophia Loren. I just really liked the photo I found of her and decided to do it in the shades of green. I really liked the way it came out...

A great image to paint. I like the movie "Dead Presidents", it's not high up on my favorites list or anything like that, but it's a pretty good movie. The imagery of the bank robbery though, all of the face paint and guns and all of that, are great to take and do art with. So that's what I did, took one of the great scenes from that movie and put it into a painting...

The Blues is my music. I love all kinds of music, Jazz, Rock, Blues Rock, Soul...but to me the Blues is number one. And to me there is only one "King" of the Blues - B.B. King. Not only is he one of my favorite artists, but I've always liked the way he's brought a style and sophistication to the Blues, but at the same time keeping the Blues raw and real and down home.
I wanted to pay tribute to B.B. with this painting, trying to bring in all of the emotion and intensity I could, everything I felt when I listened to him play. Of course I always jump at the chance to do a painting based on Blues artists or music because personally I don't feel it gets the recognition it deserves anymore. It should, it definitely should. It should be deeply appreciated, highly promoted, and of course kept alive...

Mugshots are great to paint. They always make good art in my opinion. I've done quite a few mugshots over the past three years and along with Frank Sinatra, this is one of my favorites to do. Al Capone, crazy as it sounds, has become a big "pop" icon here recently.
I have to say it does make interesting art...

Just a big fan of classic horror movies, all of them. I did this painting last Halloween with the intentions of doing all of the classics, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, Werewolf of London, Nosferatu etc. I am working on that set, of course as I get them done I will post...

I'm not really a country music fan, there is nothing wrong with the music, I appreciate it greatly, it's just not "me" per say. But there is something about Johnny Cash that I like. It's different for me, a cut above a lot of the country music out there. It wasn't until shortly after he passed that I really started getting into his massive catalog and lengthy career, and I've been a fan ever since.
When I heard about a movie on his life coming out - "Walk the Line" - in late 2005, curiosity got me and I started looking for a really good photo of him that I could translate on canvas. I found this one. I really liked the feel of the picture, only being half of his face, the cool of it, to me it embodied what his career was about. I've done quite a few diferent Johnny Cash painting since then, I will post them soon, but this one stands out as one of my favorites to paint. I hope you enjoy it too...

This is my "warm up" painting. Usually, after I haven't been painting for a while, I'll sit down and use this one to warm up my hands and get going again.
I've always loved this image, it came from the 1994 House of Pain album "Same As It Ever Was", one of the best albums when I was growing up.
Anyway, I'm Irish, I love boxing, and I really like this image, so I put it down on canvas.

I hope you enjoy and critique and comments are always a pleasure...

This one I did along with the Cream painting (above) and a Led Zeppelin (that I will post soon). Kind of a trio of the great blues influenced rock from the late sixties. Now I've actually started a "Mr. Jimi" series of 5 different paintings, including this one. All will have the loud colors etc that to me are synonymous with Jimi and his music...I will post them as they are done...

John Carpenter's Halloween is right up there on the top of my list for favorite movies. That's what got me inspired to do this painting of Michael Myers.
I wanted to put in as much detail as I could on the mask, and give it a really dark feel. I actually used the image of Myers from the Halloween 4 movie poster. I liked the way it turned out...

I'm a huge fan of Alice Cooper's radio show - "Nights with Alice Cooper". Listening every night gave me the idea to start putting this painting together, initially just as something for the practice and the portfolio, but then I decided to finish it up and actually send it to him as fan art. So that is where I'm at right now, tracking down the address and getting it ready to ship to Mr. Cooper himself...
